[Yei,South Sudan, TCT] Yei - Rainbow FC girls’ football beat their City Stars FC counterpart to win the football trophy in Yei River State. The colorful game was played at Yei freedom square attended by thousands of fans including officials from state government and nongovernmental organizations in the town.

Aweil Girls’ Secondary school in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state has emerged as champions of a peace volleyball match played on Wednesday, after beating Salva Kiir Girls’ school 3-2.

South Sudan is planning to participate in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in 2016, an official from the national ministry of sports has said.

Guor Mading Maker, also known as Guor Marial, may not be allowed to represent South Sudan at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next year for receiving training funds from the International Olympic Committee.

South Sudan held the first National Chess Tournament over the weekend in Juba, which saw the participation of 72 players.
